FISIP of Universitas Riau Attends Micro-Credential Workshop, Encourages Integration of Academic Programs to Achieve IKU

Pekanbaru — The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) of Universitas Riau attended the Micro-Credential Program Workshop themed “Implementation and Integration of Micro-Credentials as an Instrument for Achieving Universitas Riau’s Key Performance Indicators (IKU)”, organized by Universitas Riau on Monday (January 5, 2026). The event took place at the Indragiri Room, 4th Floor, Rectorate Building of Universitas Riau.

The workshop was part of Universitas Riau’s strategic efforts to strengthen the implementation of micro-credential policies integrated with the SATU UNRI system as a supporting instrument for achieving higher education Key Performance Indicators (IKU), particularly IKU 3.

The activity was attended by university leaders, faculty leaders, heads of departments, study program coordinators, and administrators of the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program within Universitas Riau.

The workshop was officially opened by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs of Universitas Riau, Dr. Mexsasai Indra, S.H., M.H. In his remarks, he emphasized the importance of synergy among work units in integrating micro-credential programs into study program curricula so that they align with MBKM policies and the needs of the workforce.

Workshop materials were delivered by several speakers, namely Prof. Dr. Rahman Karnila, S.P., M.Si., Secretary of the Institute for Quality Assurance and Learning Development of Universitas Riau; Dr. Zulfarina, M.Si., Coordinator of the MBKM Center; and Ibnu Daqiqil ID, S.Kom., M.T.I., Ph.D., Head of the Information and Communication Technology Service Unit of Universitas Riau. The speakers presented concepts, policies, and technical aspects of implementing micro-credentials integrated with the university’s academic system.

FISIP Universitas Riau actively participated in the workshop, represented by the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs of FISIP Unri, Dr. Auradian Marta, S.IP., M.A., along with heads of departments and study program coordinators within FISIP Universitas Riau.

In his response, Dr. Auradian Marta stated that the workshop served as an important momentum for FISIP to align faculty academic policies with Universitas Riau’s development direction.

“Micro-credential programs provide significant opportunities for FISIP to enrich student learning outcomes through more flexible, adaptive schemes that are relevant to graduate competency needs. The outcomes of this workshop will be followed up through curriculum strengthening and the implementation of MBKM at FISIP,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Dean of FISIP Universitas Riau, Dr. Meyzi Heriyanto, S.Sos., M.Si., affirmed FISIP’s full commitment to supporting the university’s micro-credential policies. According to him, the integration of micro-credentials is a strategic step to improve graduate quality while supporting the achievement of Universitas Riau’s IKU.

“FISIP Unri is ready to implement micro-credentials in a structured and sustainable manner by involving all study programs and strengthening collaboration with external partners. This is in line with FISIP’s vision to produce graduates who are excellent, competitive, and highly competitive,” he emphasized.

Through participation in this workshop, FISIP Universitas Riau is expected to play an active role in the development and implementation of micro-credentials at the faculty level, while making a tangible contribution to the overall achievement of Universitas Riau’s IKU targets.
