FISIP Mengaji: Building a Religious Culture and Strengthening Campus Spirituality

Pekanbaru, May 8, 2026 — The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Universitas Riau (UNRI), officially launched a monthly program titled “FISIP Mengaji” as part of efforts to enhance faith and devotion while strengthening bonds of togetherness within the campus community.

The program was held for the first time on Friday, May 8, 2026, and was attended by faculty leaders and administrative staff within FISIP UNRI. The activity was conducted in a hybrid format through Zoom Meeting and in-person sessions at the Meeting Room of the FISIP UNRI Dean’s Office.

The Dean of FISIP UNRI, Dr. Meyzi Heriyanto, S.Sos., M.Si., stated that the program is a positive step toward building an academic culture that is not only oriented toward academic achievement, but also toward strengthening spiritual values within the campus environment.

“FISIP Mengaji serves as a meaningful opportunity to strengthen social bonds and enhance spiritual values amid academic and administrative activities on campus,” said Dr. Meyzi.

The Vice Dean for Finance and General Affairs of FISIP UNRI, Dr. Mayarni, S.Sos., M.Si., also expressed appreciation for the implementation of the program. According to her, regularly conducted religious activities can strengthen the sense of family among employees while also serving as a means of character development within the workplace.

During the program, all leaders and administrative staff were assigned portions of selected Surahs from the Holy Qur’an to be read individually before the event day. Then, during the activity, all participants collectively completed the recitation of the Qur’an from Surah Ad-Dhuha to Surah An-Nas.

The program was also supported by the Head of the FISIP UNRI Musholla, Sofyan Hadi, S.Sos., M.Si., who played a role in ensuring that the religious activity runs well and continues sustainably within the FISIP UNRI environment.

FISIP Mengaji is scheduled to be held regularly on the first Friday of every month as part of strengthening the religious culture within FISIP UNRI. (Enggy-RIRY)
