Supporting RPL Implementation, FISIP UNRI Attends University Follow-Up Meeting

Pekanbaru — Universitas Riau (UNRI) once again held a follow-up meeting to prepare for the implementation of the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Program on Tuesday (January 13, 2026), at the Kunto Darussalam Room, 2nd Floor, Rectorate Building of Universitas Riau. The meeting, which began at 09:00 a.m. WIB, was attended by university leaders, the RPL Task Force team, as well as representatives of faculties and related work units within Universitas Riau.

This follow-up meeting was a continuation of the initial meeting of the Task Force for Student Admissions through the RPL Program. It aimed to finalize policies, ensure the readiness of study programs, and align the RPL implementation mechanisms so that they comply with national regulations and higher education quality assurance standards.

The meeting was led directly by the Acting (Plh.) Rector of Universitas Riau, who also serves as Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Dr. Mexsasai Indra, S.H., M.H. In his opening remarks, the Acting Rector stated that the RPL Program is one of the strategic instruments to support the Merdeka Belajar policy and to expand access to higher education for individuals who possess learning experiences and competencies obtained outside formal education pathways.

He emphasized that the implementation of RPL at Universitas Riau must be carried out carefully, accountably, and with a strong focus on quality assurance. According to him, recognition of prior learning should not reduce the quality of graduates; instead, it should add value by enriching the academic process and enhancing graduate relevance to labor market needs.

“The RPL Program must be understood as a legitimate and measurable form of academic recognition. Therefore, all stages—from policy formulation and assessment of learning outcomes to the involvement of study programs—must be prepared thoroughly and transparently,” he stressed.

The meeting was attended by the Chair, Secretary, and members of the Task Force for Student Admissions through the RPL Program, the Coordinator of the Center for Educational Development, and the Coordinator of the Accreditation Center under the Institute for Quality Assurance and Learning Development (LPMPP) of Universitas Riau. Also present was the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) Universitas Riau, Dr. Auradian Marta, S.IP., M.A., representing the faculty’s active support for strengthening academic aspects in RPL implementation.

On the occasion, Dr. Auradian Marta expressed his appreciation for the initiative of the university leadership in facilitating a comprehensive and structured discussion on RPL. He considered this follow-up meeting a strategic forum for faculties and study programs to convey their readiness as well as the challenges in implementing RPL at the operational level.

Through this follow-up meeting, Universitas Riau reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that the Recognition of Prior Learning Program is implemented in a directed, high-quality manner and in accordance with quality assurance principles. The outcomes of this meeting are expected to serve as a strong foundation for the formulation of technical guidelines and the acceleration of RPL implementation across all faculties within Universitas Riau.
