FISIP UNRI Workshop Highlights Integration of Case Method and Team-Based Projects in Learning Process

Pekanbaru, November 6, 2025 — The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Riau (FISIP UNRI), held a Workshop on the Development of Semester Learning Plans (RPS) Based on Case Method, Team-Based Project, and Course Portfolios on Thursday (Nov 6), at the DPH Meeting Room, 2nd Floor, FISIP UNRI Dean Building.

The workshop, which began at 9:00 a.m., featured Dr. rer. nat. Delita Zul, M.Si. as the keynote speaker and was attended by faculty leaders, heads of departments, program coordinators, working group chairs, administrative heads, and lecturers from various departments within FISIP Universitas Riau.

In his opening remarks, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Dr. Auradian Marta, S.IP., M.A., emphasized the importance of developing a shared understanding among lecturers in implementing case-based and team-based learning systems. He described this as a strategic step to strengthen academic quality and accelerate FISIP UNRI’s progress toward international accreditation.

“We need to have a unified understanding in applying case- and project-based learning methods. This is not merely an adaptation to changes in higher education systems, but part of our commitment to meeting international standards,” said Dr. Auradian.

Meanwhile, Vice Dean for Finance and General Affairs, Dr. Mayarni, S.Sos., M.Si., highlighted that the workshop served as a collaborative platform to enhance synergy among faculty elements in developing innovative learning practices. She stressed that developing an RPS is not merely an administrative task, but a foundation for improving the quality of the learning process.

“Through this activity, lecturers are expected to strengthen their roles as creative and interactive facilitators. Students should not only grasp theoretical concepts but also be trained to think critically and work collaboratively in solving real-world problems,” she added.

Dean of FISIP UNRI, Dr. Meyzi Heriyanto, S.Sos., M.Si., expressed his appreciation for the workshop, noting that it was an important initiative in strengthening the implementation of the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) curriculum.

“We are committed to continuously improving our learning system to make it more adaptive to the needs of the workforce and global challenges. Case- and project-based learning methods help students develop strong analytical, collaborative, and problem-solving skills,” said Dr. Meyzi.

The workshop was met with enthusiastic participation. The resource speaker presented comprehensive strategies for implementing the case method and team-based projects, followed by a hands-on session on preparing course portfolios.

Through this workshop, FISIP Universitas Riau reaffirms its commitment to advancing learning innovation, enhancing lecturer capacity, and ensuring academic quality that is responsive to the dynamics of modern higher education.
