Pekanbaru — Universitas Riau (UNRI) held the Signing of the Land Grant Documents for the Right of Use Certificate (Sertifikat Hak Pakai/SHP) Number 14 of 2002 on Monday (December 29, 2025), at the Integrated Classroom Building, Kampar Theater Room, Bina Widya Campus, Universitas Riau, Pekanbaru. This event marked a strategic step in strengthening legal certainty and improving asset governance at Universitas Riau as a public higher education institution.
The event was attended by the Acting (Plt.) Governor of Riau, SF Hariyanto, members of the Universitas Riau leadership, as well as faculty leaders and the academic community within UNRI. From the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) UNRI, the Dean of FISIP, Dr. Meyzi Heriyanto, S.Sos., M.Si, along with the Vice Deans and the FISIP UNRI academic community, were also present as a show of support for strengthening university assets and institutional development.

The signing of the land grant documents is part of the process of transferring the land grant from the Riau Provincial Government to the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, which is subsequently managed by Universitas Riau. The signing and handover of the grant documents were carried out directly by the Acting Governor of Riau to Universitas Riau, symbolizing the regional government’s commitment to supporting the advancement of higher education in Riau Province.
In her remarks, the Rector of Universitas Riau, Prof. Dr. Sri Indarti, SE., M.Si, expressed her appreciation and gratitude to the Riau Provincial Government for the strong support and synergy that have been well established to date. She emphasized that the signing of the land grant documents is of great importance for UNRI in providing legal certainty over campus assets, while also serving as a solid foundation for the development of educational, research, and community service facilities and infrastructure.
“The signing of these grant documents is not only related to asset legality, but also represents a tangible form of collaboration between the Riau Provincial Government and Universitas Riau in developing superior human resources through higher education,” said the Rector.

Furthermore, the Rector stated that with legal certainty over its assets, Universitas Riau can more optimally plan sustainable campus development, enhance the quality of academic services, and strengthen its role as a center for knowledge development and innovation in Sumatra, particularly in Riau Province.
Meanwhile, the Dean of FISIP UNRI, Dr. Meyzi Heriyanto, S.Sos., M.Si, also conveyed his appreciation for the successful signing of the land grant documents. He viewed this step as a concrete form of support for the continuity of professional and accountable management of higher education assets.
According to Dr. Meyzi, the certainty of campus asset status will have a positive impact on improving the quality of facilities that support learning, research, and student activities within FISIP UNRI. Moreover, it will encourage the academic community to continue contributing to the strengthening of the tridharma of higher education.

The signing of the SHP land grant documents proceeded in an orderly and solemn manner and is expected to serve as an important momentum in strengthening institutional relations between the Riau Provincial Government and Universitas Riau. The established synergy is expected to accelerate the development of competitive and sustainable higher education, while providing broad benefits for the people of Riau.
