FGD on IKU Achievement Strategy, FISIP UNRI Formulates Steps to Strengthen Performance

Pekanbaru — The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Riau (FISIP UNRI) held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on the Strategy for Achieving Key Performance Indicators (KPI) on Thursday (March 5, 2026) at the DPH Meeting Room, 2nd Floor, Dean’s Building of FISIP UNRI. This activity was carried out as part of efforts to develop guidelines as well as strategies for the implementation of KPIs within FISIP UNRI.

The FGD was officially opened by the Dean of FISIP UNRI, Dr. Meyzi Heriyanto, S.Sos., M.Si. In his remarks, he emphasized that achieving KPIs is one of the important instruments in encouraging improvements in the quality of higher education, particularly in the areas of learning, research, community service, and strengthening collaboration with various partners.

“Through this discussion forum, we hope that various strategic ideas will emerge to strengthen institutional performance. KPIs are not merely administrative indicators, but serve as a direction for the transformation of higher education toward governance that is more adaptive, innovative, and impactful for society,” he stated.

The FGD was moderated by the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs of FISIP UNRI, Dr. Auradian Marta, S.IP., M.A., who also presented an overview of the implementation of Key Performance Indicators within FISIP UNRI. In his presentation, he explained the importance of integrating KPI achievements with the Tridharma of Higher Education activities across every study program and working unit.

According to him, the successful achievement of KPIs requires synergy among all elements of the faculty, including leadership, lecturers, and administrative staff, so that various work programs can be directed in a more measurable and impactful manner.

The activity also featured several speakers from Universitas Riau who possess expertise in strengthening higher education performance systems, namely Prof. Dr. Mubarak, M.Si, Head of the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) Universitas Riau; Ibnu Daqiqil ID, S.Kom., M.T.I., Ph.D, Head of the Information and Communication Technology Unit (UPA TIK) Universitas Riau; and Dr. Zulfarina, M.Si, Coordinator of the Impactful Campus Center at LPMPP Universitas Riau.

In their presentations, the speakers elaborated on various strategies to strengthen KPI implementation, ranging from integrating the Tridharma of Higher Education activities with performance indicators, strengthening research and community service collaborations, to optimizing the use of information technology to support institutional performance measurement systems.

The discussion took place interactively, involving participants from various working units within FISIP UNRI, including vice deans, heads of departments, department secretaries, study program coordinators, heads of administrative divisions, and other supporting units. Participants provided insights regarding opportunities, challenges, and strategies that can be undertaken by each study program and working unit to enhance their contributions toward achieving KPIs.

The FGD was divided into two discussion sessions. The first session discussed the formulation of strategies and follow-up plans for IKU 1 to IKU 5, while the second session focused on strategies and implementation plans for IKU 6 to IKU 12. The results of the discussions were then formulated into conclusions and recommendations that will serve as references in drafting the KPI implementation guidelines at FISIP UNRI.

Through this activity, FISIP UNRI reaffirmed its commitment to continuously strengthening academic governance and improving institutional performance in a sustainable manner, in line with Universitas Riau’s vision to produce high-quality graduates and provide meaningful contributions to societal and national development.
