59th Anniversary of HIMANISTIK: Preserving Tradition and Strengthening Solidarity during Ramadan

Pekanbaru, March 5, 2026 — The Public Administration Student Association (HIMANISTIK) of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Riau (FISIP UNRI), held its 59th Anniversary celebration combined with an Iftar gathering on Thursday (5/3/2026) at the Drs. Sutan Balia Auditorium, FISIP UNRI. The event served as a platform for strengthening ties among the academic community while fostering togetherness during the holy month of Ramadan.

The event was attended by the Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Cooperation of FISIP UNRI, Dr. Saiman, S.IP., M.Si.; the Head of the Public Administration Study Program, Dr. Abdul Sadad, S.Sos., M.Si.; lecturers of the Public Administration Study Program; the Alumni Association of Public Administration; as well as student organizations across FISIP UNRI.

In his remarks, Dr. Saiman, S.IP., M.Si., emphasized the importance of student activities that go beyond ceremonial events and contribute to character building and collaborative culture. “This momentum should strengthen brotherhood, enhance synergy among student organizations, and foster the spirit of contributing positively to the campus and society,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Dr. Abdul Sadad, S.Sos., M.Si., expressed appreciation to HIMANISTIK for its consistency in maintaining organizational traditions while organizing socially meaningful activities. “HIMANISTIK not only celebrates the age of the organization but also provides a learning space that trains leadership, teamwork, and social awareness. This aligns with the academic spirit and character development of Public Administration students,” he said.

The event also featured social and communal activities, including the donation of basic necessities and electronic items such as fans and rice cookers to the Fajar Orphanage, followed by an iftar gathering, congregational Maghrib prayer, and the ceremonial cutting of the tumpeng as a symbol of the 59th anniversary of HIMANISTIK. The celebration continued with performances from each cohort of Public Administration students and concluded with greetings and a group photo session.

This event is expected to strengthen internal organizational relations, enhance communication among student institutions, and promote social contribution through acts of sharing during the month of Ramadan. (RIRY)
