FAC 2025 Becomes a Platform for FISIP UNRI Students to Sharpen Critical Thinking and Competitive Spirit

Pekanbaru, November 3, 2025 — The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Riau (FISIP UNRI), through its Student Executive Board (BEM), officially opened the FISIP Academic Championship (FAC) 2025 on Monday (3/11) at the Postgraduate Building, PPS-PDAP Room, FISIP UNRI. The event, which will run until November 7, 2025, serves as an important agenda in strengthening academic capacity and fostering student achievement within the faculty.

The FAC 2025 was officially inaugurated by Dr. Saiman, S.IP., M.Si., Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Cooperation of FISIP UNRI. In his remarks, he emphasized that the activity reflects the faculty’s strong commitment to developing highly competent, competitive, and academically integral human resources.

“The FISIP Academic Championship is not merely about winning but about learning, collaboration, and building students’ academic character,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Dean of FISIP UNRI, Dr. Meyzi Heriyanto, S.Sos., M.Si., in a separate statement, expressed his high appreciation for the organization of FAC 2025. He noted that this program is a strategic initiative by the faculty to prepare resilient and competent students in both academic and non-academic fields.

The chairperson of the organizing committee, Sondang Panggabean, explained in her report that FAC 2025 embodies a spirit of critical and innovative academic engagement. The competition features three main categories: the Indonesian Student Debate Competition (KDMI), the National University Debating Championship (NUDC), and the Selection of Outstanding Students (Pilmapres).

Furthermore, Sondang highlighted that FAC is not only a competition but also a platform for student development and selection to represent FISIP UNRI at the university, regional, and national levels.

“Through FAC, we hope to nurture students who are not only intellectually capable but also possess strong critical thinking, effective communication, and uphold integrity and national values,” she said.

Governor of BEM FISIP UNRI, M. Ali Suhadi, also delivered a speech emphasizing the importance of sportsmanship and solidarity among participants throughout the competition.

The implementation of the FISIP Academic Championship 2025 aligns with the policies of the Directorate of Learning and Student Affairs (Belmawa) in supporting research development and human resource innovation. Through this activity, FISIP UNRI strives to create a dynamic academic atmosphere while strengthening the role of students as agents of change who are competitive at both national and global levels.

Through FAC 2025, FISIP UNRI reaffirms its commitment to continuously produce a generation of young scholars who think critically, act responsively, and are ready to face academic challenges in the global era. (Enggy-HN)
