Pekanbaru, April 21, 2026 — The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Riau (FISIP UNRI), in collaboration with AI Ready ASEAN, organized an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Literacy Workshop aimed at enhancing students’ understanding of AI technology and its application in everyday life.
The workshop, attended by 600 participants, was conducted in 12 batches and involved FISIP UNRI lecturers as well as AI practitioners from Bharabas Camp as speakers. The program was designed to provide fundamental knowledge of AI without requiring coding skills, while also teaching how to utilize AI to improve work efficiency, and discussing ethical aspects and emerging opportunities of AI that are still rarely explored.
The Dean of FISIP UNRI, Dr. Meyzi Heriyanto, S.Sos., M.Si., expressed his appreciation for the implementation of the program in his remarks. He emphasized that the workshop is highly relevant to current needs, particularly in fostering meaningful impact for both students and society.
“FISIP is ready to collaborate with various parties to deliver programs that provide tangible benefits and enhance students’ competencies,” he stated.

In addition to the training sessions, the event was also marked by the signing of a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) between FISIP UNRI and Bharabas as an institution engaged in training and education.


The event was also attended by the Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Cooperation of FISIP UNRI, Dr. Saiman Pakpahan, M.Si., who expressed his support for strengthening students’ capacity through digital technology mastery.
Through this workshop, students not only gained practical knowledge but also had the opportunity to obtain an internationally recognized AI certificate from Google.org, which is expected to enhance their curriculum vitae (CV) and broaden their future career prospects. (Robi–Enggy)
