
Pekanbaru, November 4, 2025 — The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Riau (FISIP UNRI), held an Integrated Pre-Retirement and Retirement Preparation Training with the theme “Preparing for a Productive, Independent, and Happy Retirement.” The event, which took place at the Mapala Sakai courtyard of FISIP UNRI, was designed interactively, including practical sessions on potential business opportunities that participants could pursue after retirement.
The event began at 8:00 a.m. and was officially opened by the Dean of FISIP, Dr. Meyzi Heriyanto, S.Sos., M.Si. Also in attendance were the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Dr. Auradian Marta, S.IP., M.A.; the Vice Dean for Finance and General Affairs, Dr. Mayarni, S.Sos., M.Si.; and the Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Cooperation, Dr. Saiman, S.IP., M.Si. In addition to the leadership, the event was attended by the Head of the General Affairs Division, working group leaders, as well as lecturers and administrative staff who are about to or have already entered retirement.
In his opening remarks, the Dean of FISIP expressed his appreciation to all lecturers and staff for their years of dedication to the faculty. He emphasized that retirement is not the end of one’s journey, but rather the beginning of new opportunities to continue contributing.
“We hope this activity serves as meaningful preparation. Retirement doesn’t mean we stop contributing — it only changes how we do it,” he said.


The Vice Dean for Academic Affairs added that this training reflects the faculty’s concern for the well-being of its community. According to him, transitioning into retirement requires mental, social, and economic readiness to ensure it is a comfortable and fulfilling phase of life.
Similarly, the Vice Dean for Finance and General Affairs noted that this event is a form of FISIP’s care for long-serving employees. She expressed her hope that participants can enjoy a peaceful and enthusiastic retirement.
Meanwhile, the Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Cooperation highlighted that the dedication of senior faculty and staff serves as an example for younger lecturers to continue advancing the faculty with the same spirit of commitment.
One participant expressed deep emotion and gratitude for the event, saying they felt appreciated and happy to reunite with longtime colleagues in such a warm atmosphere.
Following the opening session, the program continued with a presentation by Dr. Machasin, M.Si. from the Faculty of Economics and Business, UNRI, moderated by Puput Rusmawati, S.Pd., M.Sos. The session covered topics such as family financial management, mental preparation for retirement, and ways to build productive post-retirement activities. Participants were actively engaged, asking questions and sharing their personal experiences.



Toward the end of the event, the committee presented souvenirs as a token of appreciation for the dedication of those entering retirement. The event concluded in a friendly and familial atmosphere.
