Spirit of Collaboration and Innovation Marks the Closing Ceremony of the 63rd Anniversary of Universitas Riau

Pekanbaru, October 30, 2025 — Universitas Riau (UNRI) officially concluded the series of events celebrating its 63rd Anniversary with a strong spirit of unity and optimism toward a more innovative future. The event, held at the UNRI Student Center Building, was attended by university leaders, lecturers, education staff, students, as well as guests from the local government and partner institutions.

In her remarks, Rector of Universitas Riau, Prof. Dr. Sri Indarti, S.E., M.Si., emphasized that the anniversary celebration is not only a moment of gratitude but also a reflection of the university’s role and contribution to national development.
“Sixty-three years of Universitas Riau’s journey is proof of our commitment to continuous growth and adaptability. Through the spirit of collaboration and innovation, we aim to ensure that UNRI stands as a center of knowledge that remains relevant and impactful to society,” said Prof. Sri Indarti.

On this occasion, the signing of the SHP 14 land grant document was also carried out by the Governor of Riau and the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology as a form of support for strengthening campus facilities and development. In addition, the UNRI Award 2025 was announced to honor outstanding members of the academic community — including lecturers, education staff, students, and the best-performing units across academic and community service categories.

One of the faculties that demonstrated active participation during the anniversary celebration was the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP). FISIP achieved notable recognition by winning 2nd Place in the MBKM Program category, as well as 1st Place for Outstanding Student from the International Relations Study Program and 3rd Place from the Government Science Study Program.

Dean of FISIP, Dr. Meyzi Heriyanto, S.Sos., M.Si., stated that this year’s anniversary spirit aligns with the faculty’s commitment to strengthening its social and academic contributions.
“FISIP will continue to support the university’s spirit in creating meaningful change within society. We believe that social sciences play a crucial role in bridging research, innovation, and societal needs,” he said.

Dr. Meyzi further highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in expanding the impact of scientific work. “We cannot move forward alone. The world of education must collaborate with government, business, and community sectors so that research and innovation truly deliver tangible benefits. That is the spirit FISIP aims to embody in every step it takes.”

The closing ceremony of Universitas Riau’s 63rd Anniversary concluded with student performances, award presentations, and a communal meal — symbolizing unity and togetherness among the big family of UNRI.
