Towards a Globally Competitive Campus, FISIP UNRI Develops SOP for International Student Admissions

Pekanbaru, April 7, 2026 — The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Riau (FISIP UNRI), took part in a meeting to discuss the formulation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for the admission of international students. The meeting was held at the Kampar Room, 2nd Floor of the UNRI Rectorate Building, on Tuesday (7/4). This initiative represents a strategic step by the university to strengthen transparent, accountable, and standardized academic service governance.

In the meeting, FISIP UNRI was represented by the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Dr. Auradian Marta, S.IP., M.A., alongside faculty leaders from across UNRI. FISIP’s participation reflects its active commitment to supporting university policies, particularly in managing the growing number of international students.

The meeting was led directly by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Dr. Mexsasai Indra, S.H., M.H., who emphasized the importance of establishing SOPs as standardized guidelines for the international student admission process. He noted that the SOP would not only ensure uniform procedures across all faculties and units but also demonstrate Universitas Riau’s readiness to face the dynamics of globalized higher education.

“The development of this SOP is an important step to ensure that all international student admission processes are conducted according to clear, transparent, and accountable standards. It is also part of our effort to enhance the university’s competitiveness at the international level.”

Furthermore, Dr. Mexsasai encouraged all participants to provide constructive input based on their respective experiences and existing practices, so that the resulting SOP would be practical and comprehensive.

In response, the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs of FISIP UNRI, Dr. Auradian Marta, S.IP., M.A., expressed strong support for the initiative. He highlighted that a structured guideline would greatly assist faculties in managing international student admissions more systematically.

“At FISIP, we strongly support the development of this SOP, as it will provide clarity in the mechanisms of international student admissions, from academic aspects to administrative services. With integrated standards in place, we hope to further improve the quality of services provided to international students.”

Dr. Auradian also added that FISIP is ready to actively contribute by sharing insights based on its experience in managing international students, ensuring that the SOP accommodates various needs and real conditions in the field.

This meeting is expected to serve as an initial step toward formulating a more comprehensive policy on international student admissions at UNRI. With strong synergy between university leadership and all faculties, the implementation of the SOP is expected to run optimally and support UNRI’s vision as a globally competitive higher education institution.
