Pekanbaru — The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Riau (FISIP UNRI), welcomed an educational visit from SMAN 9 Mandau, held at the FISIP UNRI Pavilion on Thursday (January 8, 2026). The activity aimed to provide students with insights into the world of higher education—particularly in the fields of social and political sciences—while also strengthening institutional ties between secondary education and higher education.
The SMAN 9 Mandau delegation was led directly by the school principal, Kander Nasution, M.Pd.I., accompanied by members of the teaching staff and students. In his remarks, the principal expressed appreciation and gratitude for the warm welcome extended by FISIP UNRI. He regarded the visit as an important momentum to introduce campus academic life to students at an early stage.
“This visit is part of our efforts to broaden students’ perspectives regarding study options and the dynamics of campus life, so they can have a clearer picture and better preparedness to continue their education to the higher education level,” he stated.
FISIP UNRI warmly welcomed the visit. The Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Dr. Auradian Marta, S.IP., M.A., briefly presented the profile of FISIP UNRI, the available study programs, and various academic and non-academic activities designed to support the development of students’ competencies and character.
“Higher education has a strategic role in shaping human resources who are critical, adaptive, and competitive. Through visits like this, we hope students can gain an initial understanding of academic life and begin planning their study choices early,” said Dr. Auradian.
He also expressed the hope that this educational visit would motivate students of SMAN 9 Mandau to pursue higher education and consider the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences of Universitas Riau as one of their future study options.
On the same occasion, the Vice Dean for Finance and General Affairs of FISIP UNRI, Dr. Mayarni, S.Sos., M.Si., also conveyed her appreciation for the visit. She emphasized the importance of building sustainable communication between secondary schools and higher education institutions.
“This visit not only introduces the campus environment, but also serves as an initial space for collaboration between schools and universities in supporting a more prepared and well-directed transition of students into higher education,” she explained.
The event took place in a warm and interactive atmosphere, marked by a faculty introduction session, discussions, a question-and-answer segment, and concluded with a group photo.
Through this educational visit, the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences of Universitas Riau hopes to continue strengthening synergy with senior high schools in providing comprehensive information to prospective students, while also contributing to the improvement of quality and equitable access to higher education in Riau Province.
