Attend Microsoft 365 Training at UPA TIK, FISIP Strengthens Campus Digital Transformation

Pekanbaru — The Academic Support Unit for Information and Communication Technology (UPA TIK) of Universitas Riau organized a Training and Socialization Program on the Optimization of Microsoft 365 for Academic Productivity and Collaboration at Universitas Riau. The activity took place at the Integrated Classroom Building (Kampar Theater) on Thursday (January 29, 2026).

This activity is part of Universitas Riau’s strategic efforts to promote campus digital transformation, particularly through the utilization of the Microsoft 365 platform as a supporting tool to enhance work productivity, improve the effectiveness of academic services, and strengthen collaboration within the academic community.

The training and socialization were attended by university leaders, faculty representatives, as well as lecturers and education staff from various work units across Universitas Riau. The event proceeded in an orderly manner and began with an opening session, followed by remarks from the Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation, and Information Systems of Universitas Riau, Dr. Ir. Sofyan Husein Siregar, M.Phil.

In his remarks, Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation, and Information Systems Dr. Ir. Sofyan Husein Siregar, M.Phil emphasized the importance of optimizing the use of digital technology in supporting the implementation of the university’s tridharma.

According to him, Microsoft 365 functions not only as a work tool, but also as a collaborative ecosystem capable of enhancing inter-unit synergy, accelerating workflows, and supporting more effective, data-driven decision-making.

“The implementation of Microsoft 365 within Universitas Riau is expected to encourage the creation of an integrated, efficient, and collaborative work system, in line with the university’s vision of realizing modern, adaptive, and competitive governance in the digital era,” said Dr. Sofyan.

On the same occasion, a handover ceremony for the Microsoft Open Value Subscription for Education Solution (OVE) Certificate was conducted between the Rector of Universitas Riau and the President Director of PT Quadra Luminari. This certificate handover symbolized the strengthening of strategic cooperation between Universitas Riau and PT Quadra Luminari in the development and utilization of education-based information technology.

The series of activities then continued with a presentation session delivered by Rakhmadi Irfansyah Putra, a team member from PT Quadra Luminari Jakarta. In this session, participants received a comprehensive explanation of the introduction to key Microsoft 365 features, the use of Microsoft Teams Meetings, management of institutional email, work calendar organization, and the implementation of online collaborative work to support academic and administrative activities.

In addition, participants were also equipped with an understanding of strategies for optimizing Microsoft 365 to enhance individual and team productivity, as well as to build an effective collaborative work culture within higher education institutions.

The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) of Universitas Riau also actively participated in this activity by sending 10 representatives consisting of lecturers and education staff. This participation reflects FISIP UNRI’s commitment to strengthening digital literacy and optimizing the use of information technology to support faculty performance and academic services.

The Dean of FISIP Universitas Riau, Dr. Meyzi Heriyanto, S.Sos., M.Si., expressed his appreciation for the implementation of the Microsoft 365 training and socialization. He considered the activity highly relevant to the needs of the academic community amid increasing demands for productivity and digital-based collaboration.

“This training and socialization are very beneficial for lecturers and education staff at FISIP UNRI. The optimal use of Microsoft 365 will support work effectiveness, strengthen collaboration, and improve the quality of academic and administrative services within the faculty,” he stated.

The training and socialization activities concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session and a group photo with all participants. Through this activity, it is hoped that the academic community of Universitas Riau will be increasingly ready and adaptive in optimizing digital technology to support the realization of a superior, productive, and competitive campus.
