Pekanbaru, April 15, 2026 — The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Riau (FISIP UNRI), held a coordination meeting of its Occupational Health, Safety, and Environment (OHS) Task Force to further refine its 2026 work programs. The meeting took place at the FISIP UNRI Dean’s Office on Wednesday (April 15, 2026), starting at 10:00 a.m. WIB.
The meeting, chaired by the Head of the FISIP UNRI OHS Task Force, Indra Mardeni Putra, S.AP., M.AP., was attended by the Dean of FISIP, the Vice Dean for Finance and General Affairs, and members of the OHS team. The main focus of discussion was the development of a more systematic, measurable, and sustainable annual OHS program, as well as risk mapping.
The Dean of FISIP UNRI, Dr. Meyzi Heriyanto, S.Sos., M.Si., emphasized the importance of strengthening OHS as an integral part of the campus work culture.

“OHS implementation must become part of the system and work culture, not merely an administrative activity. It concerns safety, health, and environmental sustainability that we must uphold together,” Dr. Meyzi stated.
During the meeting, several strategic agendas were discussed, including the scheduling of OHS activities to ensure better organization, adjustments to the structure of the OHS Task Force, and preparations for the implementation of the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS/SMK3) within FISIP UNRI.
In addition, campus environmental safety issues were highlighted, particularly the presence of wildlife within the campus area. As a result, training on handling wild animals such as snakes, monkeys, and monitor lizards is planned for May 2026, in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
The Vice Dean for Finance and General Affairs of FISIP UNRI, Dr. Mayarni, S.Sos., M.Si., stressed that strengthening OHS is closely linked to institutional governance and service quality improvement.
“OHS is not only about physical safety, but also part of good governance. We aim to ensure that all facilities and activities operate according to established standards,” she said.
Furthermore, the meeting addressed the preparation of risk identification documents based on actual incidents, strengthening the inspection reporting system, and optimizing OHS facilities such as fire extinguishers (APAR) and other safety equipment. In addition, standard operating procedures (SOPs) for safety announcements will be developed and implemented for all campus facility usage.
The Head of the FISIP UNRI OHS Task Force, Indra Mardeni Putra, S.AP., M.AP., stated that future OHS programs will focus more on preventive measures and preparedness.

“We are encouraging collective readiness, from risk mapping and human resource capacity building to emergency response simulations such as fires and other disasters. We hope that FISIP UNRI can become a role model in OHS implementation within the campus environment,” he explained.
FISIP UNRI reaffirmed its commitment to continuously building a safe, healthy, and sustainable campus environment, while supporting the realization of professional and high-standard institutional governance. (RIRY)
