PPID Profile of FISIP (Faculty of Social and Political Sciences)The development of information and communication technology, both electronic and non-electronic, has entered various aspects of life. This development has led to the need for every element within these fields to keep up with the advancements. Similarly, the primary entity of this technological progress, namely information, seems to have no boundaries. Everyone can now access various types of information from multiple sources through the evolving media of technology and communication. In relation to information, Public Bodies as service media for the community have also experienced significant development. The Public Bodies referred to include executive, legislative, judicial institutions, and other bodies whose functions and main duties are related to state administration, where some or all of their funds come from the State Budget (APBN) and/or the Regional Budget (APBD), or non-governmental organizations as long as some or all of their funds are sourced from the State Budget and/or the Regional Budget, public donations, and/or foreign contributions. Through the enactment of the Law on Public Information Disclosure No. 14 of 2008, concerning Public Information Disclosure, which is one of Indonesia's legal products issued in 2008, promulgated on April 30, 2008, and took effect two years after its promulgation. This law, which consists of 64 articles, essentially mandates that every Public Body is obligated to open access for any public information requestor to obtain public information, except for certain specific information. Public Information is information produced, stored, managed, transmitted, and/or received by the Public Information and Documentation Officer (PPID) related to the administration and implementation of state affairs, as well as other information related to public interests. The management of Public Information is a process that includes the collection, processing, presentation, documentation, reporting, and service of information. The development of information and communication technology, both electronic and non-electronic, has penetrated various aspects of life. This advancement has led to the need for all elements within these fields to keep up with the changes. Similarly, the core component of this technological development—information—seems to have no boundaries. Everyone can now access various pieces of information from multiple sources through the evolving media of technology and communication. The Public Information and Documentation Officer, hereinafter referred to as PPID, is the official responsible for the storage, documentation, provision, and/or service of information within the PPID environment. At Riau University, a State University under the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, PPID serves Public Information Requestors who submit public information requests. |
