The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) Universitas Riau aspires to become an excellent and dignified research faculty in the field of social and political sciences by the year 2035. To realize this, an Internal Quality Assurance System (SPMI) Policy is required as a policy implementation to produce graduates who are capable of competing at national and international levels. The SPMI guidelines include SPMI Policies, SPMI Standards and Manuals, and SPMI Forms. The SPMI Policy of FISIP Universitas Riau was developed as a document explaining the attitude, thought, and understanding regarding Internal Quality Assurance Standards (SPMI) at FISIP Universitas Riau.
Higher Education quality assurance is a process of planning, fulfilling, and developing higher education standards consistently and sustainably. Internal and external stakeholders of the university, namely students, lecturers, employees, the community, the business world, professional associations, and the government, obtain satisfaction as users of the performance of university graduates. The Higher Education Quality Assurance System aims to ensure the fulfillment of Higher Education Standards systemically and sustainably, thereby producing the growth of a quality culture within the University. This is in line with the Function of Higher Education Quality Assurance, which is to control the implementation of higher education by universities in an effort to realize quality higher education.
Higher Education quality assurance is an important program and is mandatory for all institutions providing Higher Education as explained in the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 12 of 2012 concerning Higher Education, Government Regulation Number 19 of 2005 concerning National Education Standards, and Minister of Education and Culture Regulation No. 3 of 2020 concerning National Higher Education Standards.
The implementation of Higher Education quality assurance has been regulated according to Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education Regulation No. 62 of 2016 concerning the Higher Education Quality Assurance System (SPM Dikti) and Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Regulation No. 53 of 2023 concerning Higher Education Quality Assurance. The implementation of the quality assurance system is a decisive aspect for increasing the competitiveness of Higher Education.
The SPMI policy document of FISIP Universitas Riau is a development of the Universitas Riau SPMI policy document formulated by the Institute for Educational Development and Quality Assurance (LPPMP) Universitas Riau on November 20, 2020. The UNRI SPMI Policy covers all aspects of education implementation, both academic and non-academic, by applying the PPEPP management cycle (Planning, Implementation, Evaluation, Control, and Improvement).
FISIP Universitas Riau consists of 4 Departments and 3 Study Programs, namely (1) the Department of Administrative Sciences which consists of three study programs: Business Administration Study Program, Public Administration Study Program, and Tourism Travel Business Study Program. The subsequent departments are (2) the Department of Government Studies, (3) the Department of Sociology, (3) the Department of Communication Sciences, and (4) International Relations. Based on this, a Quality Assurance Group (GPM) was formed from each department and study program, which will collaborate with the Faculty Quality Assurance System (SPMF) of FISIP Universitas Riau. The implementation of SPMF FISIP Universitas Riau is carried out based on the Tri Dharma standards of Higher Education, which consist of teaching, research, and community service. This is expected to serve as a guide in implementing internal quality assurance activities effectively and can be applied by all departments and study programs within FISIP Universitas Riau to produce graduates who are competent, high-quality, and possess advantages in accordance with the vision and mission of FISIP Universitas Riau.
