Profile of the Faculty Quality Assurance Unit
The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at Universitas Riau aspires to become a leading and dignified research faculty in the fields of social and political sciences by 2035. To achieve this goal, an Internal Quality Assurance System (SPMI) policy is necessary as an implementation strategy to produce graduates capable of competing at national and international levels. The SPMI guidelines include the SPMI Policy, SPMI Standards and Manuals, and SPMI Forms. The SPMI policy of FISIP Universitas Riau is developed as a document that outlines the attitudes, thoughts, and understanding regarding the Internal Quality Assurance Standards (SPMI) at FISIP Universitas Riau.
Higher education quality assurance is a process of planning, fulfilling, and consistently and sustainably developing higher education standards. Internal and external stakeholders of higher education institutions, such as students, lecturers, staff, the community, businesses, professional associations, and the government, derive satisfaction as users of the performance of higher education graduates. The Higher Education Quality Assurance System aims to ensure the systemic and sustainable fulfillment of Higher Education Standards, fostering a culture of quality within the university. This aligns with the function of Higher Education Quality Assurance, which is to oversee the implementation of higher education by institutions in efforts to achieve high-quality education.
Higher Education Quality Assurance is an important program that must be implemented by all higher education institutions, as outlined in the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 12 of 2012 on Higher Education, Government Regulation Number 19 of 2005 on National Education Standards, and the Minister of Education and Culture Regulation No. 3 of 2020 on National Standards for Higher Education.
The implementation of Higher Education Quality Assurance has been regulated according to the Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education Regulation No. 62 of 2016 on the Higher Education Quality Assurance System (SPM Dikti) and the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Regulation No. 53 of 2023 on Higher Education Quality Assurance. The execution and implementation of the quality assurance system are key factors in enhancing the competitiveness of higher education institutions.
The SPMI policy document of FISIP Universitas Riau is an extension of the SPMI policy document of Universitas Riau, which was formulated by the Educational Development and Quality Assurance Institute (LPPMP) of Universitas Riau on November 20, 2020. The SPMI policy of Universitas Riau covers all aspects of educational administration, both academic and non-academic, by implementing the PPEPP management approach (Establishment, Implementation, Evaluation, Control, and Improvement).
FISIP Universitas Riau consists of 4 departments and 3 study programs: (1) the Department of Administrative Science, which includes three study programs: Business Administration, Public Administration, and Tourism Business; (2) the Department of Government Science; (3) the Department of Sociology; (4) the Department of Communication Science; and (5) International Relations.
Based on this, a Quality Assurance Unit (GPM) has been established for each department and study program, which will work in collaboration with the Faculty Quality Assurance System (SPMF) at FISIP Universitas Riau. The implementation of the SPMF at FISIP Universitas Riau is carried out based on the Tri Dharma of Higher Education standards, which include teaching, research, and community service.
This is expected to serve as a guide for the effective implementation of internal quality assurance activities, which can be applied across all departments and study programs within FISIP Universitas Riau. This approach aims to produce competent, high-quality graduates with excellence, in alignment with the vision and mission of FISIP Universitas Riau.
