The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) Universitas Riau continues to reaffirm its commitment to supporting student creativity while producing works that are relevant to current social issues. On Wednesday (September 10, 2025), FISIP Unri, through the Lancang Kuning Team, held a screening of the docudrama Tentang Mengerti at the FISIP Postgraduate Building, PDAP 2 room. This work is part of preparations for the 2025 Student Digital Innovation Competition (LIDM) organized by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology.
The docudrama Tentang Mengerti addresses the theme of mental health, focusing on the phenomenon of overthinking that many students experience. It tells the story of a student living away from home who manages to break free from the chains of overthinking with the support of friends. This work serves not only as entertainment but also as an educational medium aligned with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) point 3 on good health and well-being. The screening coincided with World Suicide Prevention Day, further highlighting the urgency of the issue raised.
The event was attended by the Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Cooperation of FISIP Unri, Dr. Saiman Pakpahan, S.IP., M.Si., along with Communication Science lecturers, students, the student press, and partners from Ruang Jiwa. Dr. Saiman expressed high appreciation and pride for the consistency of FISIP students in creating impactful works. According to him, LIDM activities at FISIP are not merely competitions but also a platform for developing talents and creativity that bring real impact to both students and the wider community.
Dr. Chelsy Yesicha, S.Sos., M.I.Kom., Head of the Communication Science Multimedia Laboratory, also stated that the docudrama is tangible proof of the quality and relevance of students’ ideas. Meanwhile, Dr. Tantri Puspita Yazid, S.I.Kom., M.A., as the person in charge of LIDM FISIP Unri, emphasized that the screening was held to assess how far this work can bring benefits and be well-received by the public. Input from lecturers, students, and practitioners in attendance is expected to be an important provision for the team to move forward to the national stage.
The Lancang Kuning Team, chaired by Peter Y. P. Sipahutar, with members Nur Wachida Olivia, Malvin Hariyanto, and Amirul Firdaus, drew upon personal experiences and real phenomena among students as the foundation for this work. By combining research, firsthand experience, creative approaches, and collaboration with professional psychologist Sarah Aurelia Saragih, M.Psi., Psychologist from Kinnera Psychology Services Pekanbaru, they succeeded in presenting a docudrama that not only touches the emotional side but also provides practical solutions through peer counseling and social support.
FISIP Unri is optimistic that Tentang Mengerti will be a significant step forward in strengthening the faculty’s position in LIDM 2025. More than that, the event also reaffirms the faculty’s commitment to fostering an academic climate that encourages creativity, bold experimentation, and student concern for social issues. With the full support of the dean’s office, FISIP Universitas Riau is determined to continue producing innovative works that bring real benefits to society and enhance the university’s reputation at the national level.
