Pekanbaru, May 18, 2026 — The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Riau (FISIP UNRI), through the Department of International Relations in collaboration with the Eurasia Foundation, once again demonstrated its commitment to expanding international academic networks by presenting a guest professor from South Korea in the Public Lecture Series themed Gender in International Relations Class 2026.
The event featured Professor Chung Joon Kon as the keynote speaker at FISIP UNRI. This public lecture was part of efforts to enhance academic quality and strengthen students’ global perspectives, particularly in the study of gender and contemporary international relations.

Through collaboration with the Eurasia Foundation, this activity is expected to strengthen international academic relations while opening opportunities for educational and research cooperation at the global level. Students gained international perspectives on gender issues within the dynamics of global international relations.

The presence of an overseas guest professor was also expected to enrich academic discussions and create opportunities for cross-cultural and interdisciplinary exchange of ideas. In addition to the international speaker, FISIP UNRI also involved lecturers in supporting the success of the event. Dr. Dianni Risda served as the translator to facilitate communication between the speaker and participants throughout the activity.

Dean of FISIP UNRI, Dr. Meyzi Heriyanto, S.Sos., M.Si., stated that this international public lecture reflects the faculty’s strong commitment to improving educational quality and broadening students’ global perspectives through international academic collaboration.

“FISIP UNRI continues to provide learning spaces that are adaptive to the development of global issues. The presence of international academics is expected to offer broader academic experiences for students,” said Dr. Meyzi.

Meanwhile, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs of FISIP UNRI, Dr. Auradian Marta, S.IP., M.A., explained that this activity is also part of strengthening the international academic atmosphere within the campus environment, particularly in encouraging students to become more critical and open to diverse global perspectives.
Head of the Department of International Relations FISIP UNRI, Dr. Yusnarida Eka Nizmi, M.Si., also expressed appreciation for the successful implementation of the event. She hopes that the public lecture will provide academic benefits for students while strengthening the international cooperation established between FISIP UNRI and the Eurasia Foundation.
Through this international public lecture, FISIP UNRI hopes students will gain broader academic experiences, understand gender issues from a global perspective, and enhance their critical thinking skills in the study of international relations. (Enggy-RIRY)
