Pekanbaru, October 2, 2025 — The Branch Library of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Universitas Riau (UNRI), underwent a field visitation as part of the 2025 Best Faculty Branch Library Competition organized by UNRI’s Academic Implementing Unit (UPA) Library. This activity serves as part of efforts to improve the quality of information and literacy services within the university, as well as a means of evaluating library management performance at the faculty level.

The visitation was led directly by the Head of UNRI Library UPA, Prof. Dr. Sri Endang Kornita, S.E., M.Si., accompanied by the jury team and competition committee. The delegation was warmly welcomed by the Vice Dean for Finance and General Affairs of FISIP UNRI, Dr. Mayarni, S.Sos., M.Si., together with the Head of General Affairs, Susi Heptariani, S.E.Ak., M.Ak., the FISIP Branch Library Coordinator, Diani Hartati, M.AP, and the library staff.

In her remarks, Dr. Mayarni expressed her appreciation for the trust placed by UNRI Library UPA in selecting the FISIP Branch Library as one of the participants in this competition. She emphasized that libraries are a vital element in supporting academic processes, not only as providers of reading collections but also as centers of literacy, research, and knowledge development.
“We are committed to continuously improving the quality of services, in terms of collections, facilities, and human resources, so that the library can truly become an inclusive, modern, and comfortable learning space for the entire academic community,” she stated.

Meanwhile, in her address, Prof. Dr. Sri Endang Kornita emphasized that this internal visitation aims to ensure that all library branches within UNRI are managed according to academic service standards. According to her, the role of libraries is becoming increasingly strategic in the digital era, where the demand for fast, accurate, and technology-based information is growing.
“Today, libraries are not only repositories of books but must also function as centers of information and digital literacy. Therefore, technology-based service innovations must continue to be enhanced to remain relevant to the needs of students and lecturers,” she explained.

The visitation activities included a direct review of service areas, reading rooms, print and digital collections, and other supporting facilities such as circulation systems, information technology resources, and library accessibility. The jury team also conducted interviews with both library managers and users to assess service effectiveness.

Some feedback provided included optimizing more comfortable reading spaces, increasing the quantity and variety of digital collections, utilizing online service applications, and strengthening the capacity of library management human resources. The assessment is expected not only to determine winners but also to encourage continuous improvement across all UNRI branch libraries.

Through this visitation, the FISIP UNRI Branch Library is expected not only to complement academic facilities but also to serve as a modern learning center that supports UNRI’s vision to become an excellent, competitive university that makes real contributions in producing knowledgeable and strong-character generations.
