In Collaboration with PPKPT Task Force, KUKERTA MBKM FISIP UNRI Holds Anti-Bullying Awareness Program

Pekanbaru, August 6, 2025 – Bullying among students remains a pressing issue in the education sector. Beyond its detrimental impact on victims’ mental health, bullying can also disrupt the learning process and hinder character development. In response, students from the 2025 Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KUKERTA) MBKM program of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Riau (FISIP UNRI), assigned to Sukajadi Subdistrict, collaborated with the Task Force for the Prevention and Handling of Violence in Higher Education (Satgas PPKPT) UNRI to hold an anti-bullying awareness session at SMP Advent Pekanbaru on Wednesday (6/8).

The initiative aimed to raise students’ awareness about the dangers of bullying and to foster a safe, supportive learning environment. The session featured a presentation by Khairiyah Khadijah, S.Pd.I., M.Pd., a member of the Victim Support and Protection Division of Satgas PPKPT UNRI, and was officially opened by the Field Supervisor of the KUKERTA MBKM team for Sukajadi Subdistrict, Dr. Fajriani Ananda, S.Sos., M.Si.

In her presentation, Khairiyah outlined various forms of bullying, including physical, verbal, social, and cyberbullying. She stressed that bullying is far from a trivial matter, as it can lead to severe consequences such as fear, low self-esteem, prolonged stress, and depression. She also shared preventive measures, such as creating a safe school environment, fostering healthy communication among students, and encouraging the courage to report incidents to authorities.

The initiative was warmly welcomed by the school community. The Principal of SMP Advent Pekanbaru, Fonaha Lase, S.Pd., expressed appreciation for the students’ contribution.

“This activity serves as a reminder for us that bullying must be anticipated and prevented so it will not happen in our school, especially here at SMP Advent Pekanbaru,” she said.

The session also saw active participation from students, who posed questions and shared personal experiences related to bullying, reflecting their commitment to maintaining a violence-free school environment.

Through this program, SMP Advent Pekanbaru students are expected to gain a deeper understanding of the importance of fostering a culture of respect, empathy, and mutual safety. The KUKERTA MBKM FISIP UNRI team reaffirmed their dedication to instilling positive values and integrity among young learners.
