Socialization of Permendikbudristek 55/2024: FISIP UNRI Supports the National Movement for a Safe and Inclusive Campus

Pekanbaru, October 15, 2025 — The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Riau (FISIP UNRI), took part in the Socialization of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Regulation (Permendikbudristek) Number 55 of 2024 on the Prevention and Handling of Violence in Higher Education Institutions. The event was organized by Universitas Riau at the Kampar Theater Room, Integrated Classroom Building, on Wednesday (15/10).

The activity was also accompanied by the signing of an Integrity Pact as a collective commitment to realizing a safe, inclusive, and violence-free campus, in conjunction with the 63rd Anniversary of Universitas Riau.

The event was officially opened by the Rector of Universitas Riau, Prof. Dr. Sri Indarti, SE., M.Si, In her remarks, the Rector emphasized the importance of implementing Permendikbudristek No. 55 of 2024 as a concrete step toward creating an academic environment that is safe, just, and grounded in respect for human rights.

The Dean of FISIP UNRI, Dr. Meyzi Heriyanto, S.Sos., M.Si, expressed his appreciation for the event, stating that the socialization serves as an important momentum to strengthen awareness among all academic community members in preventing all forms of violence on campus.

“FISIP UNRI is committed to continuously fostering a safe learning environment that respects diversity and upholds human values. We fully support the implementation of this regulation across all academic and non-academic activities,” he said.

The keynote speaker of the event, Dr. Chatarina Muliana, S.H., S.E., M.H, Inspector General of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek), presented the substance and urgency of the new regulation in an interactive session moderated by Khairiyah Khadijah, S.Pd.I., M.Pd.

The session was filled with enthusiasm, attended by university leaders, deans, and academic community members from various faculties, including the Dean and staff representatives of FISIP UNRI. Following a lively Q&A session, the event concluded with the presentation of souvenirs, a group photo session, and a formal closing by the master of ceremonies.

Through this event, Universitas Riau reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the values of humanity and justice within higher education and to serving as a model in implementing policies for the prevention and handling of violence in academic settings.
