Pekanbaru, October 9, 2025 — The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Riau (FISIP UNRI), held an Archivist Training program for administrative staff within the faculty. The activity took place at the Akar Beluru Room, 2nd Floor of the Dean Building, starting at 2:00 PM.
The event was officially opened by the Vice Dean for Finance and General Affairs, Dr. Mayarni, S.Sos., M.Si., and attended by the Head of General Affairs, Susi Heptariani Z., SE.Ak., M.Ak., as well as the Heads of Working Groups (Pokja) from various divisions within FISIP UNRI.
In her opening remarks, Dr. Mayarni stated that the training aims to enhance staff competence in managing archives effectively and in accordance with higher education administrative standards. She emphasized that good archival governance directly affects institutional performance, particularly in supporting a fast and accurate administrative service system.

“Archives are not merely documents but serve as an important record of all institutional activities. Through this training, we hope staff members can better understand the importance of orderly archiving in supporting transparency and administrative accountability,” said Dr. Mayarni.
Meanwhile, the Dean of FISIP UNRI, Dr. Meyzi Heriyanto, S.Sos., M.Si., expressed his appreciation for the organization of the event. In his remarks, he conveyed that such training is an essential part of the faculty’s efforts to strengthen human resource capacity, especially among education staff.
“We fully support competence enhancement activities like this. Well-managed archives will facilitate evaluation and reporting processes and serve as valuable institutional records for the university,” stated Dr. Meyzi.
The training featured two experienced speakers — Ibni Zairi, S.Sos., M.Si. and Sinsi Ana, S.IP., M.Si. — who delivered materials on dynamic archival management, document storage and maintenance techniques, as well as the utilization of digital technology in modern archival systems. Participants also had the opportunity to engage in simulations and hands-on practice in digital-based document management.

The training atmosphere was highly interactive, with participants actively asking questions and discussing archival issues encountered in their respective work units. The speakers provided practical solutions and tips on maintaining the security and confidentiality of important institutional documents.
Through this activity, it is expected that all participants will be able to apply the knowledge gained in their daily tasks, thereby making archive management within FISIP UNRI more orderly, efficient, accountable, and sustainable. (Enggy-WD)
