63rd UNRI Anniversary: FISIP UNRI Cultivates the Spirit of “Impact for the Nation”

Pekanbaru, October 13, 2025 — Universitas Riau (UNRI) held the Opening Ceremony of its 63rd Anniversary with the theme “63 Years of Universitas Riau: Impact for the Nation” at the Student Center Building, Bina Widya Campus, on Monday (13/10). The event marked the beginning of a series of anniversary celebrations filled with enthusiasm and togetherness.

Starting at 08.00 a.m. local time, the ceremony was attended by university and faculty leaders, lecturers, students, and invited guests. The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Riau (FISIP UNRI), participated through the presence of the Dean, Dr. Meyzi Heriyanto, S.Sos., M.Si., along with the faculty leadership team, as a form of support and pride for UNRI’s long journey.

The event began with participant registration, followed by a welcoming traditional dance performance, Tari Persembahan, presented by Sanggar Seni Titah Negeri of FISIP UNRI. The dance served as a gesture of respect and a warm welcome to all guests.

In his report, Dr. Mexsasai Indra, S.H., M.H., Chair of the 63rd Anniversary Committee and Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, stated that this year’s celebration serves as an opportunity to strengthen collaboration and contribution among the academic community in realizing a university that is excellent, impactful, and adaptive to the times.

UNRI Rector, Prof. Dr. Sri Indarti, S.E., M.Si., in her remarks, emphasized the importance of maintaining unity and fostering innovation to face the future challenges of higher education.

She also encouraged all members of the university to actively contribute to regional and national development through education, research, and community service.

FISIP UNRI Dean, Dr. Meyzi Heriyanto, S.Sos., M.Si., expressed appreciation for the successful organization of the event. According to him, the anniversary is not merely a celebration but also a moment to strengthen synergy among units within the university.

“FISIP UNRI remains committed to supporting the university’s mission in making real contributions to society and regional development. The spirit of ‘Impact for the Nation’ inspires us to continuously innovate and collaborate,” said Dr. Meyzi.

The official opening was marked by the beating of the kompang (traditional drum) by the Governor of Riau, H. Abdul Wahid, M.Si., together with the Rector, Vice Rectors, Senate Chair, and Deans, symbolizing the commencement of the anniversary series.

The Governor of Riau expressed his appreciation for UNRI’s contribution in producing outstanding human resources and hoped the university would continue to be a center of knowledge that drives regional progress.

The celebration continued with the launching of the 63rd Anniversary logo, the screening of UNRI’s March, a reflection video of UNRI’s 63-year journey, and a Malay poetry performance by Sanggar Seni BATRA FKIP, which added a rich touch of local culture to the event.

As part of the academic agenda, the ceremony also featured a presentation on the Implementation of Digital Graduation Documents by Farah Fitria Rahmayanti, Director of Digital Business at PERURI, moderated by Ibnu Daqiqil Id, S.Kom., M.T.I., Ph.D.

The Opening Ceremony of UNRI’s 63rd Anniversary marked the start of a month-long series of academic, social, and cultural activities throughout October. The presence of FISIP UNRI’s leadership and academic community reaffirmed the faculty’s strong support for the university’s vision to remain an excellent, competitive, and impactful institution for the nation.
