KKN Students from FISIP and FAPERTA UNRI and Sialang Rampai Youth Hold Women’s Volleyball Tournament to Ignite the Spirit of Independence

Pekanbaru, August 3, 2025
In celebration of the 80th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, students from the Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) program under Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at Universitas Riau (UNRI), together with the Faculty of Agriculture (FAPERTA), organized a Women’s Volleyball Tournament competing for the Kukerta 2025 Trophy in Sialang Rampai Village, Kulim District, in collaboration with local youth.

The highly spirited tournament was officially opened on Sunday morning, August 3, 2025, at 9:00 AM WIB at the volleyball court in the Pemko Sialang Rampai housing area. The Kulim Subdistrict Head, Fajri Adha, S.STP, M.Si., symbolically inaugurated the event and delivered an important message during his speech.

“This tournament is not just about winning, but also serves as a platform to strengthen friendship. Through sports, we can get to know each other better, uphold sportsmanship, and build team cohesion among clubs,” said the Subdistrict Head, accompanied by the Head of Sialang Rampai Village, the Chair of KNPI Kulim, and heads of RW 01 and RT 01.

This tournament is one of the flagship programs of KKN MBKM FISIP and FAPERTA UNRI, aimed at fostering the spirit of togetherness, sportsmanship, and a healthy lifestyle within the community. Interestingly, the majority of participants are women from the local community, showing great enthusiasm since the first day of the competition.

The event organizer, Ajiyan Syah, stated that the tournament will continue until Thursday, August 7, 2025. He hopes the event will run smoothly and bring great benefits to the community.

“This is not just a competition, but also a moment of entertainment and togetherness. Hopefully, in the future, it can become a regular agenda to strengthen community bonds,” said Ajiyan.

More than just a tournament, this event also provides a space for women to express themselves and explore their potential through sports. The KKN students are not only organizers but also community partners in promoting women’s empowerment, strengthening social values, and enlivening the spirit of independence.

This Women’s Volleyball Tournament is a clear demonstration of how the younger generation can contribute positively to building social solidarity and increasing active community participation in the celebration of Indonesia’s Independence Day.
