On November 18, 2024, the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) of Universitas Riau held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) in the Dean's Meeting Room on the second floor, focusing on Public Service Standards at FISIP Universitas Riau. This significant forum was attended by key figures from FISIP, such as Dean Dr. Meyzi Heriyanto, S.Sos., M.Si, Vice Dean 1 Dr. Auradian Marta, S.IP., M.A, Vice Dean 2 Dr. Mayarni, S.Sos., M.Si., and Vice Dean 3 for Student Affairs, Cooperation, and Alumni, Dr. Saiman Pakpahan, S.IP., M.Si. Also present were FISIP Professors, including Prof. Andri Seno, M.M., M.Si., Prof. Dr. Dra. Rd. Siti Sofro, M.Si., Administrative Coordinators, Sub-coordinators, Department Heads, Program Coordinators, the Head of FISIP Alumni Association (IKA), Postgraduate Student Representatives, student guardians, external stakeholders, and the Chairman of the Student Legislative Body (BLM) and Governor of the Student Executive Body (BEM) of FISIP Universitas Riau.

In his opening speech, Dean of FISIP Universitas Riau, Dr. Meyzi Heriyanto, S.Sos., M.Si, emphasized the importance of the event for the institution in setting public service standards to achieve the desired integrity zone. The primary focus of this FGD was the presentation of 25 formulated Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), delivered by Vice Dean 2, Dr. Mayarni, S.Sos., M.Si. The discussion was moderated by Dr. Baskoro Wicaksono, S.IP, M.IP.

In her presentation, Vice Dean 2 of FISIP Universitas Riau, Dr. Mayarni, S.Sos., M.Si., highlighted the importance of implementing the core values of the Integrity Zone as a fundamental basis for enhancing public service quality within FISIP. She explained that these core values are built on six key principles: Integrity, Accountability, Transparency, Professionalism, Innovation, and Service Orientation. “We are committed to making the Integrity Zone a work culture, not just a program,” Dr. Mayarni asserted.

As part of the implementation, Dr. Mayarni outlined various service innovations that have been introduced at FISIP Universitas Riau. These innovations aim not only to enhance efficiency but also to build public trust in FISIP Universitas Riau as an institution of integrity and service excellence.

During the Q&A session, Prof. Siti Sofro, one of the FGD participants, provided input regarding the addition of SOPs related to teaching content for lecturers as instructional team members and students as users. This suggestion underscores the importance of improving public services in the academic environment, particularly concerning the interaction between lecturers and students in the learning process. Adding such SOPs can enhance the quality of education and services at FISIP Universitas Riau while strengthening student engagement in the learning process.

This Focus Group Discussion underscored FISIP Universitas Riau's commitment to enhancing public service standards through participatory and collaborative approaches. Constructive input from various internal and external stakeholders reflects a strong synergy in supporting the institution's vision of achieving an integrity zone.

Through this activity, FISIP Universitas Riau not only demonstrated a serious effort to improve public services but also provided a tangible example of how collaboration can be the key to creating an excellent, professional, and competitive academic environment.

This FGD is expected to mark the beginning of strategic steps that will continue to be implemented to achieve optimal public service quality, supporting FISIP Universitas Riau’s mission as a leading institution in social and political sciences.
