The Public Administration Bachelor Program of FISIP, University of Riau, held a follow-up meeting on Curriculum Reconstruction on Thursday, October 17, 2024, from 09:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Public Administration Meeting Room, Building E, FISIP, University of Riau. The meeting was attended by professors and all faculty members of the Public Administration Study Program.

The meeting was chaired by the Head of the Public Administration Bachelor Program, Dr. Dadang Mashur, S.Sos., M.Si., with the main agenda focusing on the curriculum reconstruction of the Public Administration Bachelor Program, emphasizing the adjustment of courses and the development of competencies relevant to the needs of the business and industrial sectors.

Dr. Dadang Mashur, S.Sos., M.Si., highlighted the importance of collaboration in this process and stressed that the curriculum should meet the demands and challenges of the job market. He added that the revised curriculum is expected to produce graduates who are not only competent but also prepared to innovate in response to changes in the public sector. "With an interdisciplinary and competency-based approach, we believe that Public Administration graduates will be able to contribute significantly to societal development," said Dr. Dadang.

Each Functional Lecturer Group (KJFD) proposed changes to the study program’s core and elective courses in line with the curriculum recommended by the International Association of Public Administration (IAPA). Public Administration lecturers provided constructive input regarding the courses and teaching methods relevant to current developments. Subsequently, the curriculum development team will compile the feedback from all KJFD to be integrated into a more comprehensive curriculum revision plan.

This curriculum reconstruction is expected to result in concrete steps towards a more responsive and adaptive curriculum, thereby improving the quality of education in the Public Administration Study Program.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to draft a new, more adaptive and innovative curriculum, which is expected to be implemented in the upcoming semester. This curriculum reconstruction initiative demonstrates the commitment of the Public Administration Study Program to enhancing the quality and relevance of education in the modern era.
