The meeting was led by Dr. Lie Othman, S.Pi., M.M., the Head of the Study Program, and attended by all faculty members of the Business Administration Program.
This meeting was part of the Study Program's efforts to enhance academic relevance and community service, particularly in Dayun District, Siak Regency. In his opening remarks, Dr. Lie Othman emphasized that community service is one of the essential pillars of the tri dharma of higher education. He stated, “This activity aims not only to provide direct benefits to the community but also to integrate the theories we teach in class with real-world practices.”
Discussion Focus One of the main points discussed in the meeting was the collection of data related to farmers in Dayun District. Accurate and relevant data is crucial to ensure that service and research activities are aligned with local needs and context. The appointed faculty will coordinate with the local Agricultural Office to obtain the latest information on farmer demographics, the types of commodities grown, and the challenges faced in the field.
Additionally, regarding scheduling and implementation mechanisms, the meeting agreed to carry out service and research activities on September 23 and 24, 2024. A special team was formed to plan and ensure that every technical aspect of the activities runs smoothly. The meeting also discussed the importance of socializing with the local community to help them understand the goals and benefits of this initiative.
Team Division To enhance the efficiency of implementation, the team was divided into two groups. The first group will focus on activities in KJFD in Dayun District and Merangkai Village, aiming to conduct an in-depth analysis of the socio-economic conditions of farmers. The second group, consisting of students, will visit locations in Banjai Seminai Village, Dayun Village, and Merangkai Village to collect field data and provide direct assistance to the community.
Dr. Lie Othman added, “Involving students in this activity is a valuable part of the learning process. They not only learn from books but also experience the social realities faced by the community. This is a golden opportunity to apply their knowledge in real-world contexts.”
Each team member is expected to actively and responsibly contribute to the preparation and execution of the activities. Good communication among team members and collaboration with the local community are anticipated to enhance the effectiveness and impact of this initiative.
