Pekanbaru, September 22, 2024 – The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at Universitas Riau held a send-off ceremony for the Community Service Program (Kukerta) students under the "Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka" (MBKM) initiative with 20 credits. The event took place in front of the FISIP Dean's Office building at Universitas Riau. It started at 07:30 WIB and was attended by the Dean of FISIP, Dr. Meyzi Heriyanto, S.Sos., M.Si., the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs Dr. Auradian Marta, S.IP., M.A., the Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Cooperation Dr. Saiman Pakpahan, S.IP., M.Si., as well as seven Field Supervisor Lecturers (DPL).
A total of 232 FISIP students from Universitas Riau will participate in the MBKM Kukerta with 20 credits in Siak Regency. The students will be placed in four sub-districts covering 21 villages, namely Sabak Auh (6 villages), Dayun (3 villages), Pusako (6 villages), and Sungai Apit (6 villages).
This Kukerta program will last for 47 days, during which the students will actively participate in developing and empowering the local communities through various pre-planned programs.
In his speech, the Dean of FISIP, Dr. Meyzi Heriyanto, S.Sos., M.Si., expressed his appreciation and hopes that the students can take advantage of this opportunity to directly apply the knowledge they have acquired in college to the community. "Hopefully, the students can become agents of change and make a real contribution to the communities in their respective Kukerta locations," he said.
The Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Dr. Auradian Marta, S.IP., M.Si., conveyed an important message to the students heading to the field. "I hope the students will uphold the good name of FISIP Universitas Riau and adapt quickly to the new environment. This experience will be an important part of your academic journey. Don't hesitate to learn from the community and provide solutions to the problems they face," he stated.
The send-off ceremony proceeded smoothly and with enthusiasm, concluding with a group photo session as a symbolic start to the students' journey of service in the field. -RR-
