Pekanbaru – The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at Universitas Riau officially sent off the participants of the 9th Edition of the Public Administration Student Service Camp (PEMANIS PADI) on Friday afternoon, November 15, 2024. The send-off ceremony took place in the courtyard of FISIP UNRI's Postgraduate building and was attended by the Head of the Public Administration Study Program, Dr. Dadang Mashur, S.Sos., M.Si., Vice Dean 2 of FISIP, Dr. Mayarni, S.Sos., M.Si., Vice Dean 3 for Student Affairs, Partnerships, and Alumni, Dr. Saiman Pakpahan, S.IP., M.Si., as well as Public Administration lecturers Dr. Abdul Sadad, S.Sos., M.Si., and Dr. Fajriani Ananda, S.Sos., M.Si.

In his remarks, Dr. Dadang Mashur emphasized that the 9th edition of PEMANIS PADI is not merely camping, but is intertwined with community service activities at the campsite location. This year, the program is being held in Tanjung Belit Village, Kampar Kiri Hulu District, Kampar Regency, renowned for its natural beauty and ecotourism potential.

Vice Dean 3 for Student Affairs, Partnerships, and Alumni, Dr. Saiman Pakpahan, S.IP., M.Si., highlighted in his speech the strategic role of student activities such as PEMANIS PADI in strengthening the relationship between the university and the community. “Through this program, students can apply the knowledge they have learned in class to real-life contexts. It is also an opportunity to demonstrate that FISIP Universitas Riau students possess a strong sense of social awareness and the ability to become agents of change in society,” said Dr. Saiman.

“This activity is a tangible manifestation of the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, particularly in terms of community service. Students are not just learning in the classroom but are directly contributing to the community through social and empowerment activities,” said Dr. Dadang.

On a separate occasion, the Dean of FISIP UNRI, Dr. Meyzi Heriyanto, S.Sos., M.Si., expressed his appreciation for the students and lecturers participating in this activity. He emphasized the importance of programs like PEMANIS PADI in shaping students who excel not only academically but also possess a strong social spirit.

“This activity embodies the values of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, especially community service. Public Administration students must be able to become agents of change, not only on campus but also in society. Tanjung Belit Village is the right place to learn while providing tangible benefits to the community,” said Dr. Meyzi.

He also hoped that students would use this opportunity to build empathy and social solidarity while supporting the development of local village potential, particularly in the field of ecotourism.

Dr. Mayarni, S.Sos., M.Si., as Vice Dean 2, expressed her appreciation for the enthusiasm of the students involved in this activity. “We hope that students can sharpen their adaptability, organizational skills, and make positive contributions to society so that the humanistic values within Public Administration become increasingly evident in community life,” she added.

Meanwhile, Dr. Abdul Sadad and Dr. Fajriani Ananda expressed their full support for this activity, considering the importance of developing students' soft skills through field activities involving collaboration with local communities.

The 9th Edition of PEMANIS PADI will last for three days, featuring various programs such as community work with residents, community empowerment through village administration training, and interactive discussions on managing village potential, especially in the ecotourism sector.

Through this activity, it is hoped that students will gain valuable lessons from direct interaction with the community while helping to enhance the capacity of Tanjung Belit Village residents in managing their local potential.
