On Wednesday, October 30, 2024, the Legislative Student Body of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at Universitas Riau conducted a visit to the office of the Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD) of Riau Province. This visit was part of the institutional visit agenda for the 2024/2025 period, aimed at enhancing cooperation, obtaining valuable input, and deepening their understanding of the role of the Riau Provincial DPRD in fulfilling its responsibilities alongside the Riau Provincial Government.
In addition to gaining insights and knowledge from the Riau Provincial DPRD, members of the Legislative Student Body of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at Universitas Riau also sought to convey their aspirations and hopes for the future of Riau Province. As student representatives, they play a significant role in providing constructive input and advocating for the interests of society and future generations.
According to the Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Cooperation, Dr. Saiman Pakpahan, S.IP., M.Si., this visit holds special significance as it is the first visit by the FISIP UNRI Legislative Student Body to the Riau Provincial DPRD. Through this activity, students can broaden their knowledge of the legislative process at the regional level and gain a better understanding of the political dynamics in Riau Province. By engaging directly with members of the Riau Provincial DPRD and staff, students have the opportunity to learn from experienced political practitioners and gain deeper insights into the decision-making processes at the regional legislative level.
This institutional visit also offers students the opportunity to build beneficial networks and relationships in the fields of politics and governance. By sharing ideas and perspectives with key stakeholders at the Riau Provincial DPRD, students can expand their viewpoints and enrich their learning experiences beyond the classroom. Additionally, the chance to voice student aspirations and hopes directly to policymakers is an important step in strengthening student participation in the democratic and developmental processes at the regional level.
