The rainy season often results in an increase in the number of cases of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) caused by the Dengue virus which attacks humans through the bite of the Aedes Aegypti mosquito. Dengue fever can cause death for sufferers. So preventive measures are very important.
Riau University's FISIP invited the Simpang Baru Community Health Center to carry out epidemiological investigations and vector surveys within the FISIP environment, after receiving reports that several teaching staff and educational staff were affected by dengue fever.
Simpang Baru Community Health Center epidemiologist, Mrs. Nofri Yetti, SKM, explained that the purpose of the survey was to collect data and look for additional case information as well as examine mosquito breeding sites to determine Aedes Aegypti mosquito larvae.
Responding to this, Dr. Mayarni, S.Sos., M.Si as Deputy Dean for General Affairs and Finance stated that FISIP, Riau University has made efforts so that dengue fever can be prevented. Based on the results of surveys and epidemiological investigations by the Simpang Baru Community Health Center, it can be recommended that fogging/fumigation measures be carried out for the FISIP University of Riau area which will be carried out by the Pekanbaru City Health Service.
Furthermore, Reza Rezita, SKM, environmental health section at Simpang Baru Community Health Center, explained that mosquitoes that cause dengue fever can breed in places where there is standing water. Therefore, preventive measures must be taken by eliminating places that allow mosquitoes to breed.

Therefore, preventive measures must be taken with 3M plus, namely Draining, Closing water reservoirs, and Recycling used goods, as well as adding (Plus) by sprinkling larvae-killing larvicide, regularly changing the water in pots/vases, using safe mosquito repellent. .
