Pekanbaru, 22 August 2024--
On Thursday, August 22 2024, the Pekanbaru City Health Service carried out fogging or fumigation to eradicate mosquitoes that cause dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) in the FISIP environment at Riau University.
The field coordinator for Disease Prevention and Control from the Pekanbaru Health Service, Mr. Andrison, stated that the fogging was carried out after receiving a report from the Simpang Baru Community Health Center epidemiology team regarding the breeding of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes, which cause dengue fever, in the FISIP environment at Riau University.
The leadership of FISIP, Riau University, in this case the Deputy Dean for General Affairs and Finance, Dr. Mayarni, S.Sos., M.Si., appreciated the quick response of the Pekanbaru City Health Service as an important step in preventing and overcoming the dengue fever outbreak.
The Aedes aegypti mosquito is known as the main vector of dengue fever, a dangerous disease that can be life-threatening. Therefore, preventing mosquito breeding is a top priority and requires effective action.
Dr. Mayarni stated: "apart from fogging, there have been many other steps taken by the FISIP academic community at Riau University to prevent the breeding of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes, including maintaining environmental cleanliness by carrying out routine mutual cooperation and preventing the creation of stagnant water which can become a place for mosquitoes to lay their eggs."
Participation from the entire academic community is certainly an important factor in preventing and controlling this disease which can cause death.
