On November 14, 2024, the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at Universitas Riau (UNRI) held a seminar showcasing research and community service results funded by Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP). The event was initiated by the Functional Position Group of Lecturers (KJFD) within each study program and department in FISIP UNRI.

The event was attended by the Dean of FISIP UNRI, Dr. Meyzi Heriyanto, S.Sos., M.Si., Vice Dean I for Academic Affairs, Dr. Auradian Marta, S.IP., M.A., Vice Dean II for General and Financial Affairs, Dr. Mayarni, S.Sos., M.Si., as well as reviewers Prof. Dr. Ir. Irwan Effendi, M.Sc., and Prof. Dr. Sujianto, M.Si., alongside all lecturers involved in the FISIP UNRI KJFD.

Dr. Meyzi Heriyanto, the Dean of FISIP UNRI, expressed appreciation for the initiative taken by lecturers in the KJFD to continuously develop research and community service as a tangible contribution to the university and society. He emphasized that this seminar is not only a platform for disseminating research findings but also serves to strengthen an academic culture grounded in innovation and collaboration. Dr. Meyzi highlighted that the role of lecturers extends beyond teaching; it includes the responsibility to produce scientific works that benefit the community. “I hope the outcomes of this activity can offer solutions to various societal challenges and reinforce FISIP UNRI's position as an institution actively contributing to social and political development,” Dr. Meyzi remarked.

Dr. Auradian Marta, Vice Dean I for Academic Affairs at FISIP UNRI, stated that this results seminar provides a venue for lecturers to present their research and community service outcomes, while receiving constructive feedback from qualified reviewers. He stressed that the research and service undertaken by lecturers are not solely intended to enrich academic knowledge but also to address real-world societal issues. Dr. Auradian hopes that through this seminar, the quality and relevance of FISIP UNRI’s research and community service will continue to improve, fostering stronger synergy between the academic community and society.

Prof. Dr. Sujianto, M.Si., as a research reviewer, emphasized the need for innovation in research to keep pace with societal developments and needs. “I hope that FISIP UNRI can continue to be a pioneer in applied social and political research that directly benefits society at large,” Prof. Sujianto said.

Prof. Dr. Ir. Irwan Effendi, M.Sc., a community service reviewer, highlighted the importance of research and community service in providing substantial contributions to society. He stressed the relevance of these activities in offering real impact to the wider community.

The seminar was divided into two sessions: research result presentations held in the Postgraduate Building and community service result presentations conducted in the Second Floor Dean’s Meeting Room.

A total of 29 research proposals and 27 community service proposals were reviewed, demonstrating the enthusiasm and commitment of all KJFD-affiliated lecturers to fulfilling their academic responsibilities.

Through research and community service activities, FISIP UNRI aims not only to produce high-quality research but also to offer tangible benefits to the local community. The spirit of collaboration between lecturers and students in conducting impactful research and service activities remains the main focus of this event.
