Pekanbaru, November 12, 2024 - Universitas Riau held the Entrepreneur’s Day event at the Eucalyptus Forest, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) UNRI. This event, organized as part of the Independent Campus Entrepreneurship Program (WMK) Youth Action Batch III 2024, showcased 100 innovative products created by 513 participants.

The event was officially opened by the Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Alumni of Universitas Riau, Dr. Hermandra, M.A., and was attended by all deans, heads of institutions, heads of UPT (Technical Implementation Units), bureau heads within Universitas Riau, as well as field supervisors, mentors, and WMK alumni. The guests were also treated to a series of engaging activities such as the Prototype Show, Export Business Talkshow, Personal Branding Workshop, and WMK Got Talent, all designed to foster participants' creativity and entrepreneurial skills.

Dr. Hermandra, M.A., the Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Alumni of Universitas Riau, stated, “This Entrepreneur’s Day event is a concrete step by Universitas Riau to support student creativity and develop young entrepreneurs ready to compete in the business world. By showcasing innovative works, participants not only practice the knowledge they have gained but also demonstrate great potential to contribute to the national economy. We hope this event inspires all students and faculty to keep innovating and support the government's Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (Independent Learning Independent Campus) program.”

Julita, S.E., M.Si., Ak., CA., Head of the WMK Program at Universitas Riau, emphasized the importance of insights, knowledge, and a problem-solving mindset for the participants. "This WMK program is designed not only to equip students with entrepreneurial skills but also to broaden their perspectives and deepen the knowledge needed to face dynamic business challenges," she explained. "Through this event, we hope participants can not only create products but also develop the ability to find solutions for various problems they may encounter in the real business world."

Ms. Julita further highlighted that Entrepreneur’s Day is a valuable opportunity for participants to hone their problem-solving skills. "Here, we want to see resilient and creative students who can turn every problem into an opportunity. With broader knowledge and insight, they will be more prepared to become adaptive and solution-driven young entrepreneurs," she added.

The Dean of FISIP Universitas Riau also expressed, “FISIP Universitas Riau is committed to providing space for student creativity development. Entrepreneur’s Day demonstrates that WMK participants not only have creative ideas but also the ability to realize those ideas into tangible products. We are proud to host this event and hope it motivates other students to continue innovating and collaborating in the field of entrepreneurship.”

The event, which lasted until the afternoon, also served as a platform for participants to promote their products to the public and receive feedback from experts and practitioners in business and entrepreneurship.
