Pekanbaru, 22 August 2024--
The Academic Fair discussion, held on the FISIP Unri campus, was opened by the Dean Dr. Meyzi Heriyanto, S.Sos., M.Si, Main discussion speaker, Prof. Dr. Ali Yusri and Dr. Hasanuddin. Both are lecturers in Government Science, FISIP, Riau University. The Dean hopes that the tradition of academic discussion, which emphasizes the power of dialectics and is sensitive to local and national political developments, must be given important boldness. What's more, simultaneous regional elections as a 5-year cycle must be welcomed intelligently by FISIP thinkers at Riau University.
The big theme raised in this discussion is; "Dismantling the Governor and Deputy Governor of Riau's mayor's office." This is a productive way for Fisip when the political situation in Jakarta is dark after Constitutional Court Decisions number 60 and number 70 were issued on August 20 2024.
The discussion took place in a relaxed manner under the swing of moderator Khairul Amri, S.Sos., M.Si, Lecturer in Public Administration, FISIP, Riau University. The host of the event was entrusted to Mawaddah, a young lecturer in International Relations. The participants who attended were mostly young and senior lecturers, Heads of Departments, Coordinators of Study Programs in the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences and Chair of the Senate, Prof. Dr. Yusmar Yusuf.
Long explanation from Dr. Hasanuddin regarding the political alignment pattern between the KIM [Advanced Indonesia Coalition], which seems to be a silent pattern that is suppressing democracy up to the regional election level in more than 500 districts/cities and 37 provinces.
Authoritarian democracy? So that it is possible to "dismantle pairs, pairs of candidates" for the 2024 regional election contestation. With economic considerations and debt repayment patterns that are so fat and fat, candidate pairs who are in line with the tone and orchestration of KIM are like being given the task of carrying out extractive economic exploitation. Especially for Riau, the demand for extractive economic patterns such as coal mining, oil, palm oil and industrial forest plantations which are used as raw materials for PULP in Riau, all of these extractive patterns have the potential to pay regional debts to Jakarta which in fact owe debts to foreign countries. and international institutions.
During the discussion, Dean Dr. Meyzi Heriyanto, S.Sos., M.Si immediately read the STATEMENT OF ATTITUDE directly, firmly and loudly. regarding the situation of democracy in Indonesia which is increasingly chaotic and lacking in sovereignty, especially in the last few days. He was accompanied by the Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs, Dr. Auradian Marta, S.IP., M.A., Deputy Dean for General Affairs and Finance Dr. Mayarni, S.Sos., M.Sc., Chair of the FISIP Senate Prof. Yusmar Yusuf, M.Psi., education staff, BEM, BLM and student affairs institutions throughout FISIP, highlighted concerns over manipulative efforts towards democratic procedures carried out by the majority power in the DPR, as well as steps that were considered to undermine the decision of the Constitutional Court regarding the Head Election. Area.
In its official statement, FISIP Riau University emphasized five important points:
1. Condemns all forms of manipulative and **constitutional gaming** which aim to perpetuate the power and tyranny of the majority in the democratic process.
2. Reject all forms of autocratic legalization that seek to legitimize power practices that undermine the spirit of democracy.
3. Demand that regional elections be held that prioritize the principles of fairness, dignity and dignity as the main pillars of democracy.
4. Encouraging election organizers to remain in tune with the decision of the Constitutional Court as a key step in restoring dignified and sovereign democracy.
5. Inviting all democratic actors, especially civil society forces who still have integrity, to play an active role in saving Indonesian democracy from destruction and restoring state sovereignty.
This is a statement of attitude at the Faculty level within UNRI which was attended by all FISIP academics, leaders, professors, lecturers, educational staff and student executive body administrators as well as intelligent and progressive campus activists.
It is hoped that this declaration will serve as a reminder and encouragement for all elements of the nation to continue to maintain and strengthen the pillars of sovereign and dignified democracy.
