Pekanbaru, September 15, 2025 — The Sociology Student Association (IMS) of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Universitas Riau, officially opened the Sociology Expo Season VI under the theme “With Nature, Celebrate Diversity, Build the Future.” The event is being held on September 15–18, 2025, at the Drs. Sutan Balia Auditorium, FISIP UNRI.
Dean of FISIP UNRI, Dr. Meyzi Heriyanto, S.Sos., M.Si., expressed his appreciation for the initiative of Sociology students in organizing this annual event. “The Sociology Expo is not only a creative space, but also a platform for students to foster awareness of social, cultural, and environmental issues. We hope this event will bring benefits, not only to the academic community of FISIP but also to the wider public,” said Dr. Meyzi.
Head of the Sociology Department at FISIP UNRI, Dr. Achmad Hidir, M.Si., emphasized the importance of sustainable student activities aligned with the values of sociology. “Through this expo, students learn to actualize academic ideas into real activities. We hope this event strengthens solidarity, creativity, and awareness of social and environmental issues.”
Chairman of IMS FISIP UNRI, M. Taqiyuddin Ritonga, explained that Sociology Expo Season VI reflects IMS’s consistency in organizing activities that build student character. “This year’s theme was chosen as a reflection of the importance of preserving nature and diversity in building a better future. We invite all students to actively participate in this series of events.”
This event also serves as a forum for strengthening ties among students, communities, and the wider public, as well as a learning space to broaden perspectives and raise awareness of current social issues. With a spirit of collaboration, Sociology Expo Season VI is expected to nurture a young generation that is critical, caring, and impactful.
